My cousin isn’t coming home

Published by User Image under family

I just received some pretty distressing news today. My cousin who was supposed to be flying home at the end of the month from the USA will not be able to make the trip. Last week she was in a major car accident and she isn’t up to the trip any more. Thankfully for her there are people like Chicago personal injury lawyers that are so willing to help her in her time of need.

She did go to the hospital and has whiplash and an injured back. So she will be unable to work for a short time and she will also have to pay out a lot of medical expenses. She has already been in contact with a lawyer to help her get these expenses covered. Although I am sad that she will not be able to take this trip home, I am extremely happy that she wasn’t hurt any worse than she was and she will survive.

Hopefully she gets all better soon and maybe will be able to make the planned trip next year.

Strange phone call

Published by User Image under life

Last night I got a phone call from my insurance company that they want me to come in to see them in regards to my current life insurance policy. They have never requested this in the past so I am a little confused as to why they want to see me. But I made the appointment for Monday after I drop the kids off at day camp. I guess I’ll see what their up to on Monday afternoon. I can tell you right now that if they are going to try to get me to increase my coverage, which would increase my monthly payments they are going to hear a big fat no. I can barely afford the premiums I pay now so I’m not looking forward to paying anything extra. I’ll let you all know how I make out.

House hunting again

Published by User Image under home

Well  were back at it.  Tonight we have two appointments to go see two different houses.  Hopefully one of them will be what we are looking for and we can put a bid on it.  One of the houses is way out of the area where we are looking, but it is a really good price.  The other one is right in our target area, but with a higher price tag.  We haven’t ruled out either one of them and are just waiting to see what type of condition each home is in.  Right now house prices are extremely inflated and I am not willing to pay for a house just to “have a house”.

If I don’t find that the value is worth the price tag, then we will just keep looking.  The good thing is that we don’t have to move out of our current home any time soon so we do have the luxury of time.  It’ just that I want a house so bad, that sometimes I don’t think as clearly as I should.  It’s a good thing I take my husband with me on this little trips.  He has a clearer head then I do most of the time so he won’t just jump into any purchase.

Show and shine

Published by User Image under life

Every year our town holds an annual show and shine for all car lovers. They showcase older and newer cars. There is something there for every car lover to dream and drool over. The biggest kid in my household just happens to be my husband and every year he drags along the entire family to this show and shine. When he isn’t able to attend the event, he is constantly on the Internet looking at car pictures and checking out car websites like the one over at http://www.corvetteguys.com/corvette-accessories.html. This site just happens to be one of his favorite sites to browse every night.

This site has everything imaginable for any car lover, but especially a corvette lover. You can choose to browse their wide variety of inventory in parts or you can just browse the corvette articles and pictures. You can sign up for their newsletter and receive information on a regular basis concerning corvettes and their accessories. You don’t have to be a car nut to enjoy this site, but…it sure helps! So if you have a car buff sitting in your home, now you can direct them to a site where they can browse and dream of cars they themselves would like to own.

A couple of birthdays coming up

Published by User Image under kids

My daughter will be turning 10 in August and my son will be turning 8 in August. Because they are so close in age, we generally like to buy them similar gifts. This year we have decided to purchase a couple of ipods. This is one item that they have both expressed an interest in and it would be a great item for them to have on their camping trips. My daughter is into music more than my son is. But if you buy her an ipod, it is certain that my son will want one too. Thankfully these products have come down a lot in price over the last several years so this purchase won’t cost us an arm and a leg and the kids will get a gift that they want.

Back to school shopping

Published by User Image under kids, School

I realize that it’s only the first of July so the kids have quite a while before they will be going back to school. But with two kids to purchase supplies and clothes for this can be a very costly adventure. So I try to do a little bit of shopping each week during the summer to make sure we get everything they need without paying a fortune for it. Although the back to school sales haven’t started yet, one of the stores is having a huge sale this weekend on clothes so it’s a perfect time for me to make some purchases. I have to make these purchases whether their on sale or full price. So if I can save some money in the process then so be it. That’s the great thing about clothes shopping, the clothes will not go bad even if they sit in the dresser drawers for the summer.

Bagging up the bottles

Published by User Image under kids, income

About a month ago my son and daughter decided that they wanted to start collected cans and bottles to trade in for some money.  Their trying to save up the money for their treats on their camping trips.  My husband and I have been giving them all our cans and bottles and now the neighbor is giving his as well.  Plus when they told their grandfather what they were up to he gave them all his bottles as well.  So they have a pretty good collection now.  They have so many cans and bottles that there starting to take over our deck.

So today I’m going to bag and count them all up and then Monday I will take them to the recycle depot to trade in for some cash.  Then the next time they go camping, they will have their own treat money.  Why does it feel like I’m doing most of the work, but their getting all the money!?  LOL  Oh well, what money they get in bottles, is less money their father or I have to shell out to them out of our own  pockets.

Restoring an old vehicle

Published by User Image under life

Although my husband’s day job is being a mechanic which means he is working on cars and equipment all day, one of his dreams in life is to restore an old Mustang as a hobby. Restoring a vehicle can cost quite a bit of money so he is always on the look out for places where he can find good products at reasonable products. He just recently came across a site over at radiator.com where he will be able to purchase a Mustang Radiator at a very good price.

This company is the leader’s in the radiator field and have the most extensive stock that can be found on the market. And because they have so many units in stock, they can offer their customers very good prices. We have discovered that this company has been in business for over 20 years so we know we will get the customer service that we require. And with their life time warranty offer we also know that if anything did happen, they will look after us.

So when my husband is ready to get started on fulfilling this particular deal you can bet that this will be one site we will be back to visit.

Weird dreams

Published by User Image under family, life

Everybody in life has dreams. Most people’s dreams are quite normal and quite achievable. But I just had to tell you all about one of my brother’s dreams. He would like to buy a bus. Yes, this sounds a little strange to me, but…it’s his dream. The other day he told me that he wants to purchase one so that he could start running his own tourist attractions tours in his home town. I don’t think he’s going to act on this dream any day soon, but it is definitely something that he is looking at during his retirement years. But knowing my brother as well as I do, I can see him changing his mind on this over a dozen times before the golden years ever set in.
