Boy did I ever put in a busy night last night. Honestly it seemed as though every one that lives in our area decided to come out to eat last night. The door to our restaurant never stopped opening. It was so busy that I actually had to stay an extra hour and a half past my shift to clean everything up. At one point in the evening I even considered buying an oximeter just to make sure I was okay. Thank goodness these types of nights don’t happen every night. It was a really good tip night, but I sure earned every penny of it!

My husband has been working for the same company for the past 12 years. For the most part, he really hasn’t been happy. But because it’s a nice steady and stable job, he refuses to look elsewhere. He just comes home and rants and raves to me about the job and then the next morning he’s off to work again.

Last night he had a staff meeting, and he came home just ranting. Apparently they are changing the dress code at his work and expect him to go out and pay for a new uniform. To say that he was not impressed, was an understatement. I guess he figures if he has to start paying for uniforms, then they are going to make him pay for other stuff as well. Can you imagine having to fork out the money for a super pump 250 or a generator? But instead of saying anything to his employer, he leaves the meeting and crabs to me about it. Oh well, I’ve done this for 12 years and I expect I’ll be doing this with him for another 12 years.

Normally I don’t look forward to Mondays. I work every weekend outside of the home, so not a lot of stuff gets done around here over the weekend. This means I normally have a lot of work ahead of me on Mondays. Well today doesn’t look so bad. I have a bit of blogging to do today, I need to get some groceries and I need to finish all the laundry. Other than that, it looks like I’ll have the rest of the day to myself. Who knows, maybe I’ll even have time to look up Fort Myers vacation rentals on the Internet. Well, this doesn’t happen very often so I guess I’m going to take advantage of it. I’m actually going to have a “me” day on a Monday!

Honestly, it seems that every day I manage to piss my 11 year old daughter off. This morning she asked my permission for her to join the drama club, and once again, I had to tell her no. The problem with the drama club this year is that they have their practices every Tuesday and Thursday after school. Well these two days just happen to be the two days that I have to work. So there is no way I have time to grab her from school and get myself to work on time. I know she understood my reasoning behind my saying no, but she wasn’t pleased with me. Oh well, if all goes well, she will be able to join next year as I don’t plan on being at my job this time next year.

Lately I’ve been very frustrated with my outside job. I work every weekend and am seriously getting tired of this schedule. I don’t know if this is a permanent thing or not so I have decided to take a few days off to see how I feel about working. I have taken tomorrow night off and I booked a weekend off at the end of the month. Hopefully this will cure my frustration and I will once again be happy with my employment. If not, then maybe I should find more work writing articles from home on effective weight loss pills and just be happy with the little bit of income I can earn from home. I’ve always said that once I started not having fun at my job anymore it was time for me to leave. So… maybe it’s time for me to leave??? Time will tell I guess.

Well it’s been a few days since I sent my test in for the transcription job that I’m applying for, and I’m still waiting to hear how I’ve done. I really do hate waiting. When I have to wait a real long time, I start to second guess myself and start to wonder if the reason why I haven’t heard back is because I didn’t do very well. Oh well, while I’ve been waiting I’ve been doing some practice transcription. I am getting faster so I think maybe the next test I take I will do better maybe?? The test transcription that I have been doing has a lot of terms like Dutch Master and similar things so it’s pretty easy work. Hopefully I’ll hear back from this other company soon and I can start making some money instead of just practising.

So finally after four days of having this test home I was able to complete it and send it in. It was a pretty simple test and mainly centered around pond pumps, but it still took me quite a while to finish as I had so much other things to do as well. I’m slowly getting things ready for Christmas and have two kids home now, so taking a test that requires absolute silence was a bit challenging. But, I was able to finally get it done. Now I will sit on pins and needles until I hear a reply back on how I did. I’ll be sure to let you all know how this turns out.

Normally I work 8:30 to 2:00 every Saturday and Sunday. Well, not this weekend. I had to book the entire weekend off from my job as my husband needed to complete his first aid and CPR training this weekend for his job. Because this was an all weekend type of thing, it just wasn’t possible for me to go to work and take the children for that length of time. It was a nice break, but I kind of miss it. Oh well, I’ll be back on track next weekend and be where I think I should be on the weekends.

During the month of October my husband was awarded the safety employee of the month award. This is something new that they are doing with his company and he was the first employee to receive this award. Apparently they look at things like proper use of safety products , and the fact that he’s been employed there for over 11 years with absolutely no accidents. And the best part of this award was the cash bonus he received in his paycheck! So I guess it pays to work safe not only for your health, but for your pocket book as well.

Currently I work as a waitress at a very busy family restaurant. Although I absolutely love my job, physically I am finding that it’s starting to get very difficult. The long hours as well as the fact that I never get to sit down, is finally taking a toll on me. I do have a marketing diploma and have been considering trying to find a job in that field. One area that I would love to get into would be to become a business plan writer. I have all the training for this type of career, I just don’t have the experience needed.

Like I said, I’m just starting to consider my options. Who knows where I’ll end up in the next five to ten years. But it sure is fun to dream now isn’t it??
