You wouldn’t believe how happy I am today knowing that the end of the week is finally here. My two youngest children were home this week on March break and let me tell you all, this was no fun for me. I’m not kidding, they spent their entire week fighting. So I spent my entire week yapping at them and now I’m in need of a break myself. Thank goodness Monday morning is just around the corner. That means that these two will be back in school and I will have a small amount of peace for a while. I really think I would rather have bariatric surgery than have to put up with another week like I did this past week. But with the weekend here and their father going to be around all weekend, maybe I’ll get a tiny bit of peace after all.

My youngest son really does crack me up. He is an extremely bright boy, but sometimes he can be so dizzy. This morning around 10:00 am I get a phone call from him (from school) that he forgot his lunch box. So of course I told him I would run it down to him. When I get to the school his teacher informs me that he told her he knew first thing this morning that he forgot it, but he forgot to tell her about it until after snack. Why wait until after snack when his snack was in the lunch box. But I laughed and gave her the lunch box anyway. I threaten this kid every day that I’m going to have to invest in some hemorrhoids treatments because he’s a pain in my *you know where*. Oh well, I wouldn’t have him any other way.

Boy my nine year old was in a mood this morning. He didn’t want to get ready for school, he didn’t want to pack his lunch and he didn’t want to walk to the bus stop. When his father asked him what was up with him this morning, he crabbed at him that he was tired. I guess he doesn’t take any sleep pills now does he. And… the reason why he was tired this morning?? He stayed up late watching the NASCAR race. I guess that will teach him now won’t it? Probably not, he’s only nine. Hopefully once he gets to school and around his buddies he will come out of his mood. Otherwise, his teacher is not going to have a very good day.

Honestly, it seems that every day I manage to piss my 11 year old daughter off. This morning she asked my permission for her to join the drama club, and once again, I had to tell her no. The problem with the drama club this year is that they have their practices every Tuesday and Thursday after school. Well these two days just happen to be the two days that I have to work. So there is no way I have time to grab her from school and get myself to work on time. I know she understood my reasoning behind my saying no, but she wasn’t pleased with me. Oh well, if all goes well, she will be able to join next year as I don’t plan on being at my job this time next year.

For Christmas my son and daughter got a couple of gift cards, so last night my husband took them to our Wal-Mart so they could spend their money. As soon as they got there, of course my son headed right for the wii accessories and my daughter headed for the DS games. Both of these kids love their video games and as soon as they have a little extra cash, they always want to spend their money on these games. Oh well, with new games to play my weekend should be pretty quite around here. As long as their playing their new games, they night fighting.

Of all the days not to cancel school due to snow, today should have been cancelled. It has been snowing steadily since last night and we are predicted to get up to 15 cm of snow before this is supposed to stop. But the kids went to school. Honestly if this snow keeps up I really do think they might cancel school during the day and send the kids home early. I really don’t understand this district. On a day that it “might” snow they cancel school, but on a day like today, school is in session.

I swear my daughter is turning into a little teenager right before my eyes. And if this is a sign of things to come in the future, then I’m starting to get a little frightened. I don’t remember my oldest son having the attitude that my daughter has. People tell me it’s a girl thing and I’m really starting to believe it. She has gotten so moody lately and does a serious amount of back talking. Now normally she’s a real good kid, but her attitude these days is driving me crazy. Hopefully I won’t have to put up with another six or seven years of this, or I’m going to be completely nuts. Thankfully she’s my only girl.

On Friday both the children will be bringing home their first report cards of the year. I’m pretty sure both will do really well and there won’t be too many surprises. I have been talking with my son’s teacher a bit this year and he is doing really well in his marks. He has to calm down on his socializing, but other than that, he is doing really well. I am able to go online to my daughter’s school to see her marks and right now she is sitting with high honors. So she is doing really well as well. So it looks like I’m going to have to run out and buy a couple of small presents to reward the children for all their efforts.

I think this is quite ironic. This is the week that my daughter’s school is playing a serious emphasis on bullying and this just happens to be the week that she is experiencing a lot of bullying. One of the boys in her grade 6 class said something to her the other day that was highly inappropriate. She is only 11 and wasn’t really impressed to hear that a boy (who’s 11) wants to have sex with her. This upset her quite a bit. But the teacher’s are aware of the situation and have taken steps to stop this kind of behavior and talk. I just wish that she didn’t have to be exposed to that kind of thing and let me tell you if it ever happens again, the school and these kids parents will not want to hear from me or her father.

Last week my daughter brought home her mid term report card. To say I was happy and extremely impressed is a serious understatement. Currently she is pulling in high honors and I couldn’t be prouder of her. She takes her school work very seriously. When she gets older she wants to become a veterinarian and knows that she has to have good grades to be able to do this. If she keeps this up, I’m sure she will have her hearts desire. All she has to do is continue to do well in school, pass the LSAT prep tests and then hopefully win some bursaries and scholarships. She’s an extremely bright child, so I’m sure she is going to make it.
