Well our bid on that particular house wasn’t accepted. At first I was a little sad, but I have since discovered that everything happens for a reason. And this is what happened to us next….
Last night my father in law came in to discuss his decision about putting his home up for sale. He is ready to move and would like to move into a retirement community that is in his area. He then asked my husband and I if we would like to purchase his home. He stated that if we purchase it, he will sell it to us at a lot cheaper price than if he were to put it on the open market. So after he left my husband and I had a major discussion concerning this move. There are pros and cons to the situation so we need a little time to make a decision.
So I honestly think that we didn’t get the house we put our bid on only because this offer has been patiently waiting for us to make a decision. So we will discuss it more and then make our decision very shortly. The good thing about this offer is that he is not ready to move yet and hasn’t gotten his apartment in the retirement community yet so we do have a bit of time.

Well I’m happy to say that we put our first bid on a house last night. Whether it gets accepted or not will be another post Buying a house can be so frustrating but it’s exciting as well. Over the weekend my husband and I went to look at a house. Now being the way my husband is, he hummed and hawed about it for the past couple of days. There were some great aspects to the home, but there were also some drawbacks as well and I guess he needed to get straightened in his head whether the good outweighed the bad. So when he told me to call the realtor that gave me the indication that he had finally made up his mind. This may not be the house we end up with, but at least it’s a start. I’ll keep you posted!

Well it’s not really my yard sale. It’s my father in law’s but he is willing to let me put up a table. So I have been digging around the house to find things to sell as well as getting all my jewelry together to see if I can sell some of that as well. While I was going through the cupboards and closets I was amazed to find not one, but two popcorn machines tucked away. Obviously I haven’t used them in quite a while so I’m pretty sure I can put them in the yard sale without missing them around my home. Now I have to go see what other treasures I may find. You never know, maybe I can get rid of a lot of junk and make a little money at the same time.

Next week we have a realtor coming in to our home to assess how much would could get for it if we put it in on the market. Because we are thinking about selling and moving, I have decided putting off buying any of the new patio furniture that I have been wanting. I really don’t want to move anything extra from this home to another one if I don’t have to. So I have decided to keep the furniture that we already have for another season and hopefully by next season we will be moved into our new home and then I can make all the purchases I want.

With my father in law’s home now on the market, he has started looking for a new one. He has been thinking about moving closer to her daughter and grand kids and I think that’s a wonderful idea. He has been so lonely over the past eight months that I think a move like this may just be something he needs. He has been checking out areas like Winter Park and has discovered that the prices for homes in this area seem to be extremely reasonable. He has been in contact with a Winter Park real estate agent and has been conversing back an forth regarding a couple of places. We will miss him if he moves that far away from us, but if this is what it takes to make him happy, then I am more than happy for him. I can’t say the same thing for my husband and the kids, but if he decides to move that far away, I’m sure they will adjust.

Now that my father in law has made the decision to sell his current home and move, he really needs to start getting rid of things in his current house. Because he is going to downsize to a smaller one, there is no way that a new home would be able to hold everything that he has collected over the years. So he has decided to have some garage sales to try to get rid of a lot of things and then he will probably looking into hiring the services of a company like the New York Moving Company to move his stuff from location to location. Even though he plans on getting rid of a lot, he will still have a lot left over to move and I honestly don’t think that him and my husband would be able to move all this just themselves. But, we will see if he needs to hire an outside service after he has his many garage sales.

Last night I was doing a little blog hopping and happened across another lady’s blog where she posted all about her Franke sinks. The description and picture that she displayed on her blog got me to wishing that when we were renovating our house, that his was the brand of sink that I went with. But, around our area you cannot get this brand of sink so I had to go with what was available around here. But, if I was to ever renovate another home, you can bet that I would be doing a little more research on these types of sinks. Oh well, the sinks I did purchase do the trick so I really have nothing to complain about.

Now that spring has finally arrived my father-in-law has made a major decision regarding his future. He has decided to put the house up for sale and to look for something smaller. Currently him and his dog live in a four bedroom home and in all honesty, this house is way to big for him now. He hasn’t been able to keep up with the upkeep to the house in recent years and things have started to go downhill in the house.
Last week he had someone come in to inspect his home to see what needs to be done before he puts the home on the market. One of the things mentioned that really needs to be upgraded would be the fiber cable that he uses for all his electronics. The good news is that once he completes all the upgrades, his house should sell rather quickly and at a profit. So I guess this is the best move he could make at this point in his life.

I am from the old school of thoughts. When I need to make any type of furniture purchase, I have a tendency to gravitate towards the furniture liquidation centers. I have never purchased any type of furniture from a furniture catalog. I have browsed them to see what types of pieces that I would like, but have never made a purchase from them.
Well all this going to change. My husband bought home a catalogue the other day and I seen a very beautiful hutch that caught my eye. The price was right as well, so it looks like I may be making my very first purchase of furniture from a catalogue. This piece of furniture should be the final item that I need to make my home look and feel the way I want it to.

I bet this happens to a lot of you. Every time you get some type of electronics figured out, the manufactures then come out with something new. It happens to me all the time. I seems like I am spending most of my time reading manuals instead of working with the products that I have just purchased. My question is once they have a product made and running so that most people are comfortable with it, why do they then think that they need to change and advance it? I guess I am the type of person who believes in the old saying. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Oh well, they did fix it and now I have to go figure out how to play with my newest electronic gadget.
