Three Feet of Snow

Published by User ImageKim under general, life

Honestly I can’t believe the weather that we are having here in beautiful New Brunswick.  We have just been hit with our third major snowstorm in the past five days.  It seems like all we are able to do is to dig out from the last snow that is dumped on us and then we get hit with another major snow fall.  I woke up this morning to find that we have about three feet of snow now laying in our yard.  So you can guess what we will all be up to today.  Yes, digging out once again.  I heard on my local radio station that we haven’t had this much snow at this time of year for almost 20 years.  That’s quite a record that we beat.  It’s perfect weather for all the snow bunnies, but since I am not one, this latest snowfall is really getting me down.

I’m finally legal

Published by User ImageKim under general

Finally after almost three weeks, I am driving legal again.  A couple of weeks ago I took my car into one of the garages in our area for it’s annual inspection.  Much to my dismay, it failed.  It need a couple of new parts and with the labour costs attached, it was going to cost me quite a bit of money to get it back on the road.  So, my husband bought the parts and I took it to a different garage to get the parts put on (a whole lot cheaper).  So this morning I headed back down the road to the original garage to have it re-inspected.  I am happy to report that this time it passed and at least for the next year I am legal again.  I did learn a valuable lesson this year and that is I will not be taking my car back to the first garage next year, but will take it to the second place I went to.  As the prices were a whole lot better and so was the service.

The perfect gift

Published by User ImageKim under family, general

Over the years I have found that purchasing a gift for my father-in-law has become quite a challenge. As he gets older, it is become more difficult to purchase something that he doesn’t already have. Well I noticed last weekend that he wasn’t wearing his watch and when I asked him about it, he told me that last week his watch finally gave up on him. He doesn’t plan on purchasing another one until after Christmas when the sales start so I thought this would be a perfect gift for him. So I have been checking out the different prices and styles of ebel watches. Finally this year I will be able to purchase him a product that I know he will be sure to use.

Scary reading

Published by User ImageKim under health, general

Yesterday I was reading an article in one of our local papers about a new treatment center that our government would like to build in our area. It really scares me to think that drug addiction has gotten so bad in our area that we need a new facility for people to go to to receive mesothelioma treatment. We have only lived in this area for about eight years an it amazes me how much this area has grown up as well as how much crime has erupted. If the problem in this area is as bad as they claim it to be, then I am quite happy that they are considering a new facility. I just wish that it had never had to come down to this.

Just starting to warm up

Published by User ImageKim under entertainment, general

Honestly guys, I just can’t win!  Yesterday it was probably the coldest day we had here this season.  It was -19 degrees and it was cold!  It took me all day just to warm up from just going down to the bus stop first thing in the morning.  Today it is a lot warmer with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark.  So, this is pretty good.  Unfortunately for me, I had to go to the skating rink first thing this morning.  So yes, it was back in the cold for me again.  I have found that when it is warm outside that is is seriously cold inside of a rink and this morning was no different.  So although it’s fairly warm outside today I am now freezing again and I know it will probably take me the entire day to warm up again.  By that time it will be freezing outside again, and… you all know the drill.

I hate my camera

Published by User ImageKim under general

I really prefer life in the olden days when all you needed to do was buy a 35mil camera and some AA batteries and then you were all set. Now with my digital camera it seems that I am always searching for my rechargeable batteries and battery charger. Oh I know that I can just put some AA batteries in and be on my way, but then what would be the point in have these types of batteries?! So you can all guess what I will be doing today, I will be searching for these stupid batteries and their charger. Yeah, just what I wanted to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Car Purchase

Published by User ImageKim under general

Well I have to say that I’m not real impressed these days. I took my car in for it’s annual auto inspection and it failed. The shop quoted me a price of well over $1000 to get it fixed. For this amount of money it almost makes sense for me to look at purchasing another car. I know it would cost a lot more to purchase another vehicle instead of fixing the one that I have, but because my car is so old, it might make more sense to put my money into a newer vehicle. of course for a large purchase like this, I would have to do some research into obtaining some Auto Loan Financing.

Thankfully there are companies available that are willing to help people out there who need financing but may not be able to get financing through traditional means. One company that I discovered through my research process will help me get the amount of money that I require without charging exorbitant interest rates to go along with this loan. The are extremely helpful and informative and if I ever make up my mind on which route I will choose to go, I will definitely be checking into this site a little more carefully.

Car Donations

Published by User ImageKim under general

Have you ever had a problem trying to get rid of an old car that you have no use for anymore? I did a few years ago and I really wish that I had been aware of this company that will take a car donation and put it to good use. This non-profit company will accept any car donation and then they turn around and make videos for kids and teens. They have given away over 2 million videos to date. This is an awesome way for you to not only get rid of a vehicle that is no longer any use to you, but you are also helping out a non-profit organization in the process.

Christmas expenses

Published by User ImageKim under entertainment, general

If your anything like I am around this time of year, your checking accounts get hit quite heavily. I try not to go overboard, but with three kids, one husband and one father in law, I just can’t seem to help myself in the spending department. A good friend of mine told me that she does all her shopping through coupons and sales so this way come January her bank account is still relatively safe. I wish I could do this as well. But, I know me and I don’t think I could ever just shop off sales and coupons. I get distracted too easily. So this is why having a checking account around this time of year is extremely important to me. This way I can keep track of all my purchases and make sure by using my records that I don’t go overly crazy with expenses.

How’s your checking accounting holding up this year?
