I did it!!

Published by User ImageKim under general

After over two years, yesterday I took the plunge and headed down to my local hairdressers.  I got my hair cut!!  If you knew me, you would know that this was a huge deal for me.  I absolutely despise going the hairdressers and getting my hair cut.  I dislike any stranger touching my head and I’m pretty sure that this  is why I don’t go as often as I should.  But, even I could see that I was beginning to look a little straggly.

When the hairdresser asked how much I would like taken off, I told her “A lot”.  Then (kind of joking, but not really) I told her this way, I won’t have to come back for two more years.  But I have to say that I did very well.  It didn’t bother me like it normally does and I really do love the job she did.  So I actually took her card and told her that I would be back (I still can’t believe I said that).  But for the first time in almost 40 years I was very pleased with my hairdressing experience.

Watching the Oscars

Published by User ImageKim under entertainment, general

Now I’m not a real big Oscar fan, but I did watch as the events unfolded last night. The main reason why I took an interest in these awards last night was because there was so many Canadians nominated this year, that I wanted to see if we had a chance. Unfortunately we didn’t win any Oscars this year, but I sure did have a lot of fun watching the show. I couldn’t believe some of the sexy costumes that some of the women were wearing. I guess you need to be a movie star to pull off outfits like these. I wouldn’t have the nerve to wear most of these, let alone go on national TV with some of these garments on. But, I did enjoy watching the show, so I will probably tune in again next year.

Purchasing precious metals

Published by User ImageKim under general, life

The older I get, the more I start to think about investments for my future. Right now I have a couple of small investments that will hopefully give me a little extra money during my retirement years. But, I am always on the lookout for more. So this is why I was quite happy to find a site over at monex.com where I can do some extra investment shopping.

Over at this site, I will be able to purchase gold, silver or other precious metals for investment purposes. I can either have them delivered right to my home or this company will store them for me until I need them. The rate of return on these investments are quite reasonable and because this company has been in business for quite a long time, I know that they are reputable. So, I am off to make some more investments for my retirement future.

Pretty decent weather

Published by User ImageKim under general, life

Many of you may not be aware of this, but I live in the East Coast in Canada.  Normally this time of year we are hit with some pretty crappy weather.  We definitely see our share of snow, sleet, hair and bitterly cold temperatures.  But, that is not what this post is about today.  Today I am actually going to say something good about our weather.

Today and for the next few days we see the sun!!  The temperatures are also quite mild today and this trend is expected to continue of the next several days.  So as far as the weather goes, I really have nothing to complain about today.  This is a good thing.  But don’t worry, when the weather starts to get crappy, I’ll be back with all my moaning and complaining again. lol

I feel like a little kid

Published by User ImageKim under home, general

On the weekend my husband and I purchased a new couch and yesterday it was delivered.  Yay!  But, there is only one problem, I don’t remember it being so big in the store.  I’m pretty sure that when we looked at it, the feet of the couch was not on it.  I would have remembered the fact that I can’t touch the floor when sitting on it!  It is extremely high and when I sit down on it my feet are dangling just like a little kid!

Last night while I was sitting on it, my husband was laughing his head of at me.  Here I am, almost 40, and can’t sit properly on my own couch.  He is actually going back in the store today to talk to the salesman about this “minor” problem.  But, it’s not a real big deal as I do love the couch, it just swallows me whole.

Oh well, maybe when I do finally grow up, I will fit in quite nicely with my couch.

I hate the waiting game.

Published by User ImageKim under general

I don’t think there is anything more in life that I despise more than waiting.  I hate waiting for a phone call, someone to show up, deliveries, and even waiting for blog pages to load.  Oh did I forget to mention that I hate dial up as well??  Well today I am playing the waiting game and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.

On Sunday my husband and I purchased a brand new couch.  Today is the day that it is supposed to be delivered.  So today I get to wait around all day waiting and waiting.  Of course they wouldn’t give me an estimated time when this item would be delivered.  So this means that I get to sit around my house all day long.  Hopefully it does come today like they promised, or I will be sitting here WAITING again tomorrow.  I hope the new couch is worth all this frustration.

The Girl in me

Published by User ImageKim under general, life

Have you ever wondered what makes you the person that you are? I have often thought about this and have come up with a few ideas which I think have made me be the person that I am. I believe each and every life experience determines what type of person you are destined to become. I think it’s also up to the individual to decide in which direction that they would like these life experiences to take. This is exactly what the term Girl Mogul means.

Girl Mogul is a way of life. It defies all convention and stereotyping and lets you become the person you want to be. Girl Moguls come in all ages, shapes and sizes. It makes you who you are. You can be smart, independent, or entertaining. The sky is the limit when deciding which type of Girl Mogul you choose to be. Any type of person can decide on their individual future as long as they have the commitment and drive to succeed. I believe the type of Girl Mongul I portray would be compassionate, kind, caring and even quite humorous. I can see these exact same traits in my daughter as she gets older.

After checking out the Girl Mogul site, I have discovered that they have a lot of cool merchandise on display. One of the items that I found that describes me perfectly is this very cool pink shirt. You should really check out this site to discover what type of Girl Mogul you are.

Talk about crazy weather!

Published by User ImageKim under general, life

Gotta tell you all that I am so…looking forward to the day when winter is finally behind us!  All week last week the temperatures were bitterly cold and I spent the entire week wishing it would warm up.  Well I got my wish and it has warmed up a lot, but with the warmer temperatures, we are now getting hit with another major snowstorm.  Right now we are expecting 20 to 25 centimeters of snow with a lot of high winds.  Not fun!  Because of this storm, the kids are also home from school for the day.  But the cold temperatures are gone. lol

So although I had a lot of running around to do today, it looks like I’m housebound with two little kids.  I do have to confess though that if I had to take my pick between cold weather or all this snow, I would take the snow any day.  After all it isn’t me who needs to shovel.

I really need to listen better

Published by User ImageKim under family, general

My husband works as a mechanic and he is always talking about different things that have to do with cars, trucks and SUVs. Actually anything that moves he has a serious interest in. Sometimes I do actually listen to him when he is droning on and on about different auto accessories and other times I tune him out. Well I learned yesterday that I really shouldn’t tune him out quite so much as I do. He came home with a transfer tank for his truck and when I asked him about his purchase he politely informed me that we had already discussed this purchase. So that’s when I decided that I really need to start listening to him a little more closely from now on.
