Five years ago my oldest brother moved about 1000 miles away. I have not seen him since. We do stay in contact over the phone and through e-mails but that really isn’t the same as being able to have a conversation face to face now is it. Well yesterday I got a very shocking phone call. They were in New Brunswick and were coming to visit! I had a beautiful visit with my brother and his wife. And since it could be another five years before I see him again, I’m really going to treasure that visit. I’m just so pleased that I finally got to spend time with him once again and hopefully it won’t be another five years before we get to do it again.

Man… I am so ticked off at my husband’s work. Yes, he needs the job and we need the money but I really wish he would find something else even if that means taking a pay cut. So far this summer we haven’t been able to go camping because he has had to work every weekend. Then yesterday he came home and told me he probably isn’t going to get his two weeks vacation until after the kids go back to school. So that really screws us over for another week of camping. This is why I’m so ticked off! I really do hope he stands up for himself and manages to get some time off.

Since my husband was on call this weekend we weren’t able to go camping. This upset the children quite a bit. So to make up for this we took the children to our local zoo. They had a blast. We normally try to get there ever year so they can see any new animals that have arrived over the past year. We had a great time and I have to tell you all it sure beat sitting home on my computer and typing up hemorrhoidal treatment articles. My husband is going to try to get next weekend off and maybe then the kids will be able to go on that camping trip after all.

Very soon it will be my husband and I’s ninth wedding anniversary. We have been together for 16 years but just got married nine years ago. So I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about anniversary presents. I have sent him some hints about what I would like and pointed him in the direction of wholesale diamonds. But I don’t know if he has taken my hints or not. I guess we will find out when our anniversary finally roles around. As far as a present for him, I have no clue what to get him and he hasn’t given me any hints. But I’m sure I’ll come up with something good.

I survived a week at home with my husband on holidays! Now normally this man requires more attention and work when he’s home on vacation than my two youngest children do and last week was no exception. He drove me crazy! At one point I was even considering checking out some Outer banks foreclosures just to get away from him. When he’s bored he agitates and last week he was definitely bored. But… he’s back to work today so my life should continue back to normal once again.

It’s been about five months since I’ve heard from my oldest son. About three years ago he moved quite far away and I haven’t seen him since he moved. We have kept in contact with each other through e-mails and facebook, but I haven’t heard tell of him since January. I have seen some pictures of him on facebook where he got some acne scar removal treatments, but as far as having conversations with him, that hasn’t happened. He didn’t even contact me on mother’s day and my birthday. I guess at this point all I can do is keep trying to e-mail him and try not to worry. It’s hard!

My husband has enrolled in a quick weight loss program. I’m actually quite surprised about this. Normally his weight doesn’t bother him but since he turned 43 he has been quite concerned with his health. So he has decided to do something about it. I think this is a great idea and will support him 100%. A couple of the guys he works with has a bet on who can lose the most weight. I’m hoping this will give him incentive to stick with it. I know he will definitely feel better in the long run for it.

Tomorrow my oldest son will be turning 21. Holy crow where does the time go?? It certainly doesn’t seem like 21 years ago I gave birth to this man. Currently he is over six feet tall, so for me to look back and remember the tiny little baby that he WAS is a little overwhelming. It’s been a great 21 years and I am extremely proud of him.

Last week I received my income tax refund in the mail. One of the things that I had decided to spend my money on was taking the kids and my husband out to supper. Well I did that Saturday night. We had a terrific time and the supper was absolutely amazing! It was well worth my money spent. And because I paid for it, it gave me a great feeling as well. The kids absolutely loved this time out with their father and I and are already anticipating the next time we all go out to eat together. Fun was had by all!

It has been a long two weeks! The week before last my husband was home for a week on holidays and last week the two kids were home on March break. Needless to say, nothing has gotten done around here during that time. I wasn’t able to get a lot done on the Internet or a lot done in the house during this time. Well, I am happy to report that the family is back where they should be! My husband is at work and the kids are both in school. So I have decided that today I’m going to take a “me” day. I’m going to surf the net to find some adorable birth announcements for my niece, going to get some groceries and then just do whatever I feel like! Tomorrow I will get back on some type of routine, but for today, I’m just going to enjoy the quiet.
