Moving on

Published by Kim under family, home

With my father in law’s home now on the market, he has started looking for a new one. He has been thinking about moving closer to her daughter and grand kids and I think that’s a wonderful idea. He has been so lonely over the past eight months that I think a move like this may just be something he needs. He has been checking out areas like Winter Park and has discovered that the prices for homes in this area seem to be extremely reasonable. He has been in contact with a Winter Park real estate agent and has been conversing back an forth regarding a couple of places. We will miss him if he moves that far away from us, but if this is what it takes to make him happy, then I am more than happy for him. I can’t say the same thing for my husband and the kids, but if he decides to move that far away, I’m sure they will adjust.

Camping season almost here

Published by Kim under family, entertainment

Now that the camping season is almost here, I have been getting things ready for our upcoming season. I have dug out the coolers, all the kids camping toys and all our camping bedding. Now that I’m in the frame of mind of getting ready for the season I have also been looking around different sites for more affordable life insurance. Because we travel so much during this time of year, I would really like to be covered as much as I can. Unfortunately things in life do happen and I’m the type of person that likes to be prepared. Hopefully I won’t need this extra coverage, but better save than sorry.

How’s your mother’s day going??

Published by Kim under family

So far so good.  My husband and kids let  me sleep in this morning which was a really great present all in itself.  Then after I got up I was handed my first cup of coffee of the morning from my favorite coffee shop.  Then my daughter made me burnt toast and eggs (but it was the thought that counted).  Then the kids gave me their presents and cards.  My husband already gave me his present yesterday.  He took me out to dinner.  And now they have been little angels.  So as far as mother’s days go I have to say that this has been one of the best!  How is your day going so far?

Extra special present

Published by Kim under family, entertainment

Today is my birthday and this morning my daughter  gave me an extra special birthday present.  Over the past couple of weeks she has been teaching herself on how to play the “happy birthday” song.  This song she hasn’t learned in school, she taught herself.  So as I was walking down the hall first thing this morning I could hear her playing happy birthday on her violin.  Most days my daughter and I fight constantly, but it’s days like today that  show me exactly how she feels.  She may get mad at me on a regular basis, but I’m her mom and she loves me.  Not only did I get the violin song from her, but her and my youngest son also made me homemade birthday cards.  They are the best!!  Now if I would only hear from my oldest son, my day would be complete.

One more week

Published by Kim under family, entertainment

Wow I can’t believe there is only one more week until the camping season officially opens. Yes, it’s still a little cold here at night time for camping, but as long as you have a good heater and a camper, you really should make out OK. The weekend of May 19 is a long weekend around here with the kids being home from school Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so we are planning on taking our first camping trip that weekend. So because it’s only a couple of weeks away, I have to start digging out all our camping supplies, sleeping bags and curtains. The end of the season last year I took everything out, washed it all up and put it all away. So the start of this season all I need to do is dig out the stuff and put it in the trailer. I can’t wait.

Going to visit my cousin

Published by Kim under family, entertainment

I finally made the decision. I have decided that I am going to book my flight to California and go visit my cousin for the very first time in my life. We usually see one another every four years, but it is always her that ends up traveling here to Canada. I have found some real cheap tickets for Flights to USA and I am taking the plunge and going to do this.

Now that I have finally made up my mind, I am quite anxious to go travelling. There are so many things to see and do in California and I can’t wait to try them all out. Through dialaflight.com I will be able to get some inexpensive tickets. And if I wasn’t staying with my cousin they would also help me with hotel accommodations as well as car rentals. Hopefully during my stay my cousin and I can go out together (just the two of us) for just one day of sightseeing, fun and relaxation. Now that I’ve made up my mind, I can’t wait to get going.

So much stuff

Published by Kim under family, home

Now that my father in law has made the decision to sell his current home and move, he really needs to start getting rid of things in his current house. Because he is going to downsize to a smaller one, there is no way that a new home would be able to hold everything that he has collected over the years. So he has decided to have some garage sales to try to get rid of a lot of things and then he will probably looking into hiring the services of a company like the New York Moving Company to move his stuff from location to location. Even though he plans on getting rid of a lot, he will still have a lot left over to move and I honestly don’t think that him and my husband would be able to move all this just themselves. But, we will see if he needs to hire an outside service after he has his many garage sales.

The decision has been made

Published by Kim under family, home

Now that spring has finally arrived my father-in-law has made a major decision regarding his future.  He has decided to put the house up for sale and to look for something smaller.  Currently him and his dog live in a four bedroom home and in all honesty, this house is way to big for him now.  He hasn’t been able to keep up with the upkeep to the house in recent years and things have started to go downhill in the house.

Last week he had someone come in to inspect his home to see what needs to be done before he puts the home on the market.  One of the things mentioned that really needs to be upgraded would be the fiber cable that he uses for all his electronics. The good news is that once he completes all the upgrades, his house should sell rather quickly and at a profit. So I guess this is the best move he could make at this point in his life.

Today he would have been 66.

Published by Kim under family

Today would have been my father’s 66th birthday.  Almost four years ago he passed away from lung cancer and on this day I tend to spend a lot of time thinking about him.  His birthday was always a special event at our house, and even when he was at his sickest, we still had a big celebration in honor of his big day.  My dad was a big, big part of my life and on days like today, it really bother’s me that he is no longer with us.  Everyday is difficult but, special days like today seemed just a little bit harder to get through.

So although he’s not with me anymore, I still needed to post this to let everyone know why today is a little difficult for me today.  Happy Birthday Dad!

Sprucing up for spring

Published by Kim under family, home

Why is it when spring finally arrives people go all crazy doing spring cleaning and updating their homes? Although there are three other seasons in the year, this is the season where people seem to go all out looking for that best buy at places like buy.com for new furniture and accessories. Why don’t we do this in the winter or fall?

I guess the main reason why I choose to do these types of activities during this time of year is because after a long, dull and drab winter I want to shake things up around my home. Spring colors and new furniture always seem to perk me up after a long winter. This winter was particularly brutal, so I’m thinking I may go a little crazier than normal this spring
