Seriously folks I have always hated the winter weather. I really should have been born in Florida. If it were up to me I would live in a place where winter never happens. But unfortunately that isn’t the case. Normally we get some pretty brutal winters here. We get really cold temperatures which cause me to purchase a lot of the best acne treatments I can find if you know what I mean. We get a lot of snow which makes me shovel a lot and most of our days are dreary and gloomy. Even though I have to put up with the blustery cold weather now, you can bet that when my husband and I both retire, I will be vacationing in Florida during these harsh months.

Well we are suppose to be in for a nasty one again this weekend.  The weatherman is calling for huge amounts of rain and high winds.  The rains are predicted to be so bad that everyone is running out to the grocery stores and gas stations to stock up.  They are predicting a lot of flooding so know one really knows how long it will be before they can make any kind of purchases like these again.

So far today we have seen a lot of rain but no winds yet.  So hopefully the majority of the storm will pass us.  It’s quite amazing that in an area where we never get storms like this, this will be our second in less than a month.  Hopefully we won’t get too bad of weather as I do have to go to work a little later on today.

Let me tell you all about a heart attack that almost was.  This morning as I was busily working on my laptop dropping tons and tons of  Entrecards my machine went completely black.  So me being the dummy that I am I just sat there staring at the screen.  Then all of a sudden all these words come flying by the screen.  Most of it was gibberish but the few words that I was able to read said “fatal error”.  Well you can just imagine where my mind was going at this point.  This machine isn’t a year old and now it’s throwing up fatal errors.

Since I know  completely next to nothing about computers I just unplugged it and hoped for the best.  I then plugged it back in and turned it on and all my fatal errors were gone.  I am still unsure as to why this happened in the first place and if there are any computer experts reading this post, I would love to hear what you think caused this.  Maybe I can get some insight into preventing it from ever happening in the future.

the kids have finally worn us down and we have agreed to get a dog. Actually we already know the dog and the owner’s have no choice but to get rid of him. They are moving into a complex that doesn’t allow pets. This is a well trained dog and is used to kids so this dog is actually a perfect choice for us. The dog has only one problem. He is seriously overweight.

The current owner’s overly indulged the dog and let him eat anything and everything. Combine that with not a whole lot of exercise and well…you get where I’m going with this. But having two kids around him that will want to constantly play with him and getting him off the table scraps should help in this situation. Hopefully we won’t have to invest in any type of alli diet pill but we will see what happens when we get him home. We should have him home in about a months time so I now have to get ready for his arrival.

In a months time my father in law (who’s 70) will be marrying his bride (she’s 66). So he’s been bustling around trying to get all the loose ends tied up. They are planning on having a huge ?? wedding with the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, ceremony and dance. Last week he asked me if I could bring some appetizers to the rehearsal dinner. After I stopped laughing, I then asked him if he was serious. He should know that I don’t cook. Can’t cook and don’t cook. But after the look of sorrow crossed his face, I told him I would bring some. He doesn’t need to know that they are bought. Oh well it’s his big day and he is excited about it, so I guess I can make the effort to try to find him some food.

My daughter is in grade 5 at school this year.  Not only does this mean that this is her last year in elementary school, but being in grade 5 she can participate in other activities as well.  One of the activities that she has really been looking forward to is to possibly become a peer helper.  A peer helper helps the teacher on duty, on lunch breaks and for any other things the teacher may need help with.

They only pick 24 students to help out in this matter.  Well 40 students applied to become involved so Kara was a little nervous about getting  picked.  But she came home from school yesterday really excited.  She was one of the ones picked and she started her official duties today.  I know she will really enjoy this aspect of school and it just goes to show you that if you work really hard during school and prove yourself, anything is possible.

I honestly don’t understand how a family of four can totally right off a home. But that’s what my family does. Over the weekend I decided to get started on my fall cleaning. The first thing I did was start throwing out stuff that we hadn’t used in well over a year. I was amazed at the amount of weight loss pills that my husband had lying around. Most of these pills had an expiration date of over a year ago. So they were the first things I tossed. Next was the kids old and broken toys. I was quite amazed at how much stuff they had considering I just went through all their stuff just a little while ago. But this is just the beginning. When it’s all said and done, I can see a lot of items being taken out of my home. I can’t wait to get my house back. It’s just going to take a little time.

Well you know for sure when summer has left us when you wake up in the mornings and have to scrape your windshield of your car off before taking the kids to the bus stop. That happened to me this morning. It was bitterly cold and reminded me that I really need to get out the kids fall jackets and their UGG Australia boots. Their not too impressed that they have to bundle up in the mornings now, but if they don’t one of them is going to end up sick. They both get sick pretty easily, so the faster I can prevent this from happening, the more school time they won’t miss. It’s only fall, but I’m starting to miss the summer season already.

In my kid’s school the children are normally unable to try out for any sports teams until grade 4.  They sometimes do make exceptions for children who show promise and determination.  Well I got a phone call from my sons school (he’s in grade 3) concerning this matter.  Since Daniel started school he has been just waiting until the day he can try out for the basketball team.  The teacher’s have seen him shooting hoops and playing this game at every chance he gets.  So they are making him the exception this year and letting him try out.

I think he will probably make the team as the gym teacher wouldn’t get his hopes up otherwise.  The teacher did warn me that Daniel may not get to play a lot in games, but he will be able to attend every practice and get some extra learning in.  Just to be on the team would make Daniels day and he is now anxiously awaiting for the day he gets to show his stuff out on the courts.  I couldn’t be any more pleased for him.
