It was announced on our local radio station that Elton John is indeed coming to town.  There have been rumors flying around for months about this event, but was not confirmed until yesterday.  He will be in town on September 30 for one night only.  The tickets go on sale first thing this Saturday morning.  I would like to say that I’m going to be purchasing a couple of tickets, but sadly I’m not.

The price for each ticket is $163.00.  And I honestly can’t justify spending that type of money on any concert tickets.  So I think the only way I am going to be able to go to this once in a life time concert is if I win some tickets on the radio.  All next week they are going to have opportunities for listeners to register and win a couple of tickets.

I’ll let you all know how I make out.  It will break my heart if I can’t go to see the “Rocket Man”.  But at the prices of the tickets I really can’t see that happening.

  1. I am fanatical about live music. But that’s a lot to pay for a seat, you know. I hope you get the tickets, but if you don’t take heart. It’s very difficult to fully appreciate a pianist in a large venue. I really like Elton’s concerts via cable/video much more than the live concerts I’ve attended of his. (And you can always buy a tshirt online!)

Maybe there are more affordable concerts headed your way?

  2. I went to his Red Piano concert in Las Vegas in March and it was seriously weird. I like Sir Elton’s music, but the stuff he did in that concert was like someone on acid created the effects, etc. He had these blow up things — roses, a pair of boobs, a pair of crossed legs with platform spike heels and some apples with worms shooting out of them, then there were the seriously depressing videos playing on the huge video screens behind the band. I was really excited about going to this concert, but was not sure I would have chosen that one if I had known how strange it was going to be. I’m pretty sure my husband didn’t enjoy it at all.

  5. Ah…. my first ‘official’ date with my husband was to an Elton John concert back in 1976 in Philadelphia. How time flies! I hope you somehow find a way to go.
