This upcoming weekend is a long weekend in our province. It is our provincial day weekend. It is also a very special weekend at our house for another reason. On Sunday my daughter will be turning 10 and on Monday my son will turn 8 (I feel so…old). So we are planning on having a surprise birthday party/ barbecue for them. The birthday invitations have already been sent out with a short note to say that this party is a surprise. We have all the presents bought and then on Saturday I will pick up the cake. I can’t wait to see the look on the kids faces when they discover that we are having a party just for them. It should be fun.

With company soon to be arriving on our doorstep within the next day or two, me and the kids have been in a heavy cleaning mode. Every room in the house is getting taken care of. By going from room to room, I have discovered that I have a lot of stuff (junk) and my house is starting to burst at the seams. So just until the company goes home, I’m going to have to start hiding stuff so it doesn’t look so cluttered. I have hidden all our luggage and suitcases under all the beds and have put away a lot of knickknacks in our closets. After the guests go home I’ll dig everything out again and my house will look like my house again. I really have to find a different method when cleaning, but when your out of time, you have to do what you have to do.

Last night we went to look at a home that we may possibly be purchasing. I fell in love with it right away so my husband and I put in a bid as soon as we could. Because the home is currently in foreclosure, we were able to place a bid that we are both quite comfortable with. Hopefully they accept our bid, but if not it’s certainly not the end of the world. I really do hope they accept the bid as it means that I will have a house that I really do like and it will also mean that we can stop looking. I never realized how exhausting looking for a house can be and I am really anxious to get this process over and done with.

These next couple of weeks are going to be so busy!  I honestly don’t know where I’m going to find the extra time in the day to get everything done that needs to be done.  Tomorrow my sister in law and her family will be arriving from out West around dinner time.  On Sunday is my daughter’s 10th birthday and on Monday it will be my son’s 8th birthday.  So we are having a surprise birthday/barbecue for them on Monday.  Next week my husband is home on holidays so hopefully we will be able to get a little extra camping in.  Then at the end of the week my brother arrives home with his family.  So it’s going to be extremely busy for the next couple of weeks.  So if you don’t see me in here a lot over the next couple of weeks.  Now you know why.

If you happen to be a Disney fan such as I am, then there is an event that is coming up which I really need to tell you all about. It’s called the Disney fine art Exhibition. It is being held at Utah’s Hogle Zoo on September 20, 2008. Trevor Carlton will be the presenter at this exhibition and it’s rumored to be one of the finest art exhibits for this year. Not only will the audience have the chance to see all the exhibits up close and personal, but they will also have the chance to meet Trevor Carlton in person.

This event is sure to please the young as well as the young at heart. So if you are a Disney fan or even a art fan then this is one show that your not going to want to miss. You can get more information about this upcoming event by visiting www.sandersartstudio.com website. This is sure to be a huge success, so don’t miss it!

A couple of weeks ago I took my laptop into our local computer shop to get some extra ram (Random Access Memory) installed in it. Now the laptop runs a lot better than it ever has and I am extremely pleased with the results. But I still think I need to do a couple more things to it to get it running the way I would like. I’m thinking I would like to purchase a web cam, a higher graphics card and possibly some speakers. To do all this is going to cost me quite a few dollars so I will wait for awhile until I get enough money saved up. When that happens I will buy these accessories and will be one happy blogger.

Although the kids were supposed to go to art camp this week and next, it looks like next week’s camp will probably be cancelled.  If they don’t get at least six kids to enroll, then they will cancel it.  At this time they only have two kids enrolled for this final week.  And those two kids would be my two kids.  When I told the kids that there probably wouldn’t be any camp next week, they weren’t too upset.  I guess they were just happy that they got to go for three weeks this summer.  They both had a blast during their camp days.  So I guess three weeks is better than none.  I’ll know for sure on Thursday whether this last week will be cancelled, but so far it doesn’t look good.

With my husband’s father buying a new mini home, he now has to sell his current home in six months or risk paying two mortgage payments. Now this isn’t a good idea for anyone, but a man living on a fixed income this could be devastating. To help sell his home faster, he has decided to do a few little fix ups. Not a whole lot, but just enough to make the place look better. He is planning on painting throughout the home, replacing the carpets in all the bedrooms and changing the bathroom fixtures. Although he won’t be doing a lot of renovations, the little stuff that he does get done will help him to sell the place faster and hopefully help him get the money he wants for it.

My father in law just purchased a two bedroom mini home. Because he currently lives in a four bedroom house with a full basement and double car garage, he is going to need to down size quite a bit. So he has been trying to give us most of his stuff. He has given us a china cabinet, a couple of beds, a dresser and some air tools. We actually had to stop him from giving us almost everything he owns. He was trying to give us a couch and chair set, but since we just purchased a couch we told him to sell it. I understand that he is excited about moving, but he has to remember that he is going to need furniture in his new home.

It was announced on our local radio station that Elton John is indeed coming to town.  There have been rumors flying around for months about this event, but was not confirmed until yesterday.  He will be in town on September 30 for one night only.  The tickets go on sale first thing this Saturday morning.  I would like to say that I’m going to be purchasing a couple of tickets, but sadly I’m not.

The price for each ticket is $163.00.  And I honestly can’t justify spending that type of money on any concert tickets.  So I think the only way I am going to be able to go to this once in a life time concert is if I win some tickets on the radio.  All next week they are going to have opportunities for listeners to register and win a couple of tickets.

I’ll let you all know how I make out.  It will break my heart if I can’t go to see the “Rocket Man”.  But at the prices of the tickets I really can’t see that happening.
