Everybody in life has dreams. Most people’s dreams are quite normal and quite achievable. But I just had to tell you all about one of my brother’s dreams. He would like to buy a bus. Yes, this sounds a little strange to me, but…it’s his dream. The other day he told me that he wants to purchase one so that he could start running his own tourist attractions tours in his home town. I don’t think he’s going to act on this dream any day soon, but it is definitely something that he is looking at during his retirement years. But knowing my brother as well as I do, I can see him changing his mind on this over a dozen times before the golden years ever set in.

As most of you are aware, my husband and I have been on a serious mission to purchase a house.  We placed a bid on one that we wanted, but unfortunately our bid was not accepted.  And then we received the news that my father in law is selling his house and was willing to sell it to us (only us–family) at a discounted price.  So we discussed it and even though it meant the children would need to change schools, we just couldn’t pass up this great deal.

Well…here’s the update.  My father in law got his house appraised and it was well over the amount that we could even think about.  As it would only be my husband’s paycheck that we could rely on to pay the mortgage, we really need to find something a lot cheaper.  Even at a discounted price, we still couldn’t afford to make the payments.  Well that was a little disappointing, but life goes on.  So we are back at the drawing board again looking for a house.

And…as always I’ll keep you posted on our house hunting adventures.

I have a new best friend these days and she is only 18 months old.  My neighbors little girl has got to be the cutest little thing that I’ve seen in a very long time.  As soon as she sees me step outside with the kids she is yelling across our yard, “Hi Kim”.  She won’t stop yelling this until I say Hi back.  Yesterday I was out for awhile with the kids and she followed me everywhere I went.  When I went inside to cook supper I heard  knock at my door.  Yup, my new best friend coming to say Hi.  When her brother tried to get her out of the house.  She shook her head and said, “I go see Kim”.  I didn’t mind having my little visitor.  I told her when I was done supper, I would come out to play with her.  You know what she said then??  “Hurry!”.   She’s just too cute!!  By the looks of things I’ll have her as my best friend for at least the summer.  But I don’t mind.  Friends like her I’ll keep. lol

Last night I was working on my youngest son’s scrapbook and I have to tell you all that I was getting a little misty eyed. I was truly amazed at seeing how quickly this little boy is growing up. It seems like only yesterday that I was bringing him home from the hospital and now today he is grading from grade 2. Before you know it, he will be complaining of acne and needing some type of acne treatment. I really wish they could stay little for ever. But I know that’s not possible. So I’ve got to suck it up and be happy that he is growing into a really cool young man. The time is flying by so quickly that maybe soon I’ll be posting that he’s getting married (just kidding). But if your a parent, then you know what I mean.

I have been staying at home for the past year raising my two youngest children.  Last May I quit my full time job after I lost my babysitter and haven’t really been able to find a suitable sitter since then.  Until now.  My neighbor has decided to quit her job and stay at home with her young daughter and has offered to watch my two kids.  So it looks like I once again have a babysitter.  Although I’m not really keen about going back out into the job market, I really do think it’s a good move for me as I really do need the paycheck.  I haven’t completely made up my mind yet, but I will make a final decision by September.  Going back to work in the summer really wouldn’t do much good at this point as I would be paying a sitter almost as much as I would be making.  So in September I will make up my mind and if need be, start looking for a job.

Last week my husband and I celebrated being together for 14 years and next month we will celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. I honestly have to wonder where all this time has gone. I’ve been looking at mens gold watches as a possible present for him for our anniversary. Right now he does not own a decent watch to wear for special occasions, so I think this would make a really great gift. I don’t normally purchase him jewelry as he doesn’t wear any because of the type of job he does. But I do think he could use a nice watch for special occasions.

When men are sick they are usually bigger babies than well…babies. And my husband is no different. Right now he has a cold. Yes, just a minor little cold. But by the way he was carrying on last night, you would have sworn that he just had a major colon cleanse. He cracks me up when he’s sick. I would honestly hate to see it if he had something serious. My youngest son was trying to take care of him and he was so cranky that Daniel gave up and went into his room. Can you imagine if they ever had to have babies?? Oh well, this too will pass and soon my hubby will be back to acting like himself instead of a big baby.

My daughter is just too cute!  You all know that she has been learning to play the violin this past year and she has gotten pretty good at it.  Well yesterday she went to turn her violin in for the summer holidays, but because she plans on re-joining next year the teacher told her to keep it and to practice over the summer.  Now she doesn’t have to practice every day, just when she wants to so she doesn’t lose everything she’s learned in the past year.

When we arrived home from school with the violin our neighbor started asking her questions about the violin.  So Kara being Kara hauled out the violin and then started playing.  Then his wife, son and daughter came outside to listen.  Other neighbors listening to the music came up the street to listen to her playing.  Kara gave them all a mini concert and was in her glory because she got to do this performance all by herself.  Yeah, she’s going places!!

My sister in law called last night to let us know that they have their flights booked and are all set to come home for a visit the first of August. Because they booked the trip so far in advance they were able to get some amazing flight deals for this visit. The two kids are super excited as their aunt and uncle will be home just in time for both their birthdays. They have never spent their birthdays with this aunt and uncle so this is a big deal to them. We are planning on having a huge birthday party for both the kids with the entire family around. The only glitch in the plans is the fact that this will be their first birthdays without their grandmother. But having their aunt and uncle home for their birthdays may just make up for a bit of this.

With only a day and a half left for the school year, I have been busy getting ready for summer and having the two younger kids home for an extended holiday. It’s going to be a great holiday for them, but a very busy one for me. I have signed them both up for four weeks of summer art camp and I will be spending these four weeks carrying them back and forth for their program. Then for a couple of weeks this summer (don’t know when yet) we will be packing up the trailer and going camping.

With all these activities planned I think I’m going to need to invest in some progesterone just to keep my energy levels where they should be. But summer vacation is for kids. So the busier they are, the happier they will be. And if my kids are happy then I am to. But don’t worry about me, I’ll get my vacation in September when they go back to school.
