Thinking Outloud

At five am this morning, my husband heard some meowing at the window and what sounded like someone knocking on our kitchen window.  Much to his surprise, the cat who has been missing for four days, was standing at the window batting his paw on it for someone to let him in.  We kept telling our seven year old son that the cat would come back, but we honestly didn’t believe.  So, you can imaging our surprise when he came back early this morning.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen my son as happy and as excited as he was this morning when he saw his cat!  He kept screaming (at 5 am)  that kitty was home.  He gave him a blast about running away and then carried him around for a couple of hours so the cat wouldn’t be out of his site.  If there was any question as to who kitty belongs to, that question has been answered.  I think it would be in the cat’s best interest NEVER to run away again.

Raising three kids can get very expensive, especially if there is only one person in the family working and bringing in money. I’m pretty sure that yesterday my cat ran away from home. He has not been seen for well over 24 hours. In the past, we have missed him for about four hours because he has hidden in one of the bedrooms to try to get cooler. I honestly don’t believe that that is the case this time. My husband and the kids searched everywhere for him but where unable to locate him. So, I’m pretty sure it got out of the house somehow without being seen.

I feel really bad for my youngest son. He loves he cat so much and when he discovered that he was missing, he cried his little heart out. When my daugher told him that we could get a new cat, he freaked! He want’s cat, and that’s it! Maybe he will come back, but I doubt it. But for my son’s sake, I have told him that he might.
