Two Birthdays coming up

Published by Kim under family, entertainment

In our household we have two birthdays coming up.  Trust me I hear about them everyday.  On Friday August 3rd my daughter will be turning 9 and on Saturday August 4th my son will be turning 7.  I’m starting to feel really old here.  LOL  I can’t believe that almost nine years have passed since we welcomed our daughter into the world and it seems impossible that my “baby” will be seven.  Where does all the time go??

So because their birthdays are only a day apart, we will be celebrating both on the same day.  We also plan on taking the kids camping this weekend as part of their birthday celebration.  It is their favorite thing to do in the summer so we decided to take them.  This is where they both have decided they would like to go.

Mixed emotions

Published by Kim under family, life

Today is a mixed emotion day for me.  Six years ago today my husband, I and all three kids walked down the isle and said “I do”.  Yes I know it sounds strange to say the kids walked down the isle as well, but they did.  You can say it was a family affair.  So, this is why it’s a happy day for me today.  As I sit back and remember not only the past six years with my husband and family, but the other seven that came before it, I reflect on how happy we have been and how happy will be in the future.

But, there is also a little bit of sadness in this day as well.  Three years ago today my father passed away from lung cancer.  I know, what’s the chances of that happening on my anniversary.  But it did.  So today is also a day for some sadness.  I wouldn’t wish that anyone go through what my father did and now I’m happy that he is at peace, but it does make it a little difficult for me thinking that this is the anniversary of his death along with the anniversary of my wedding day.

Taking care of our elderly

Published by Kim under family

It seems that today’s population is growing older. The trend seems to be that because of a healthier lifestyle and the advances in modern medicine that people are living longer and the seniors in our country have doubled compared to recent years. So there is a strong need for housing for these seniors. It seems that there are more housing units that are being built for seniors. These units include special care homes, nursing homes and seniors complexes. Some seniors need a little bit more care than others and when determining where any senior in your life would like to live you must take this into consideration.

When you look at all the nursing homes around the country you will find that there are a lot of these nursing homes in New York City. Because the population of New York City is so great then it only makes sense that there would be more seniors in this city as well. Affordable housing in any city is a great concern and if your a senior living on a limited income, it seems to be more important for you. So, when checking out these facilities for any loved one always do your research to find the homes that offer the best quality care at the most affordable rates.

Bookworm

Published by Kim under hobbies

As most of you know, one of my favorite hobbies is reading.  Usually I like to read a little bit in the evenings to try to unwind after a long day with the kids.  I usually like to read historical romance novels, but if a title on a different type of novel catches my fancy then I will try to read it as well.

I didn’t realize exactly how much I do read until this past weekend.  For the past five weekends in a row we have gone camping.  One of the things that I always pack for our camping trip is a book.  While the kids are playing I will sit back with my book and just relax for a while.  So last weekend while the kids were playing and I was sitting in my chair reading, my daughter comes over to me and states that I am a bookworm.  But this is a good thing because in her eyes as she considers herself a bookworm as well.   So, as long as the worst things she calls me I guess I’m OK.

Life insurance is important

Published by Kim under family, health

Because life is so unpredictable at times, it is very important that individuals and families invest in some sort of life insurance. Because you never know what will happen in the future, it is extremely important that people invest a little time and money in doing research about different types of life insurance. One type of life insurance that I have been checking into has been term life insurance. From all the research that I’ve done I have discovered that this type of insurance is the best on the market and one of the companies that I have been checking out has gladly given me several term life insurance quotes for me to choose from.

Because I have two small children at home obtaining this type of term insurance has become very important to me. Although I do not lead an extremely active lifestyle so my life is not placed in constant danger all the time, because of the kids, I would like to make sure I have everything covered just in case. So, if you’ve been checking into obtaining some sort of life insurance for you and your family, why not stop by term-quotes.net and ask for your free life insurance quotes. You will feel better knowing that your family will be protected in the near future and you will be quite surprised to find out exactly how little it does cost.

I love the tellers at my bank!

Published by Kim under life, miscellaneous

Yesterday while I was at my bank doing my banking business for the week one of the tellers asked me if I would be interested in looking into some on line banking.  I said no.  She was quite surprised that I said no and asked me why I wasn’t interested in this type of banking.  I explained to her that the reason for this was because I enjoy going into the bank and conversing with the tellers.  So if I were to on line banking I would miss out on these experiences.  I understand that on line banking is the “in” thing now, but I’m the type of person who enjoys interacting with others and as I explained to her if I did this on line banking they would miss me.  LOL  I know they would!

Growing old gracefully

Published by Kim under health, general

It never ceases to amaze me the length some people are willing to go to make themselves look and feel years younger. In recent years the idea of plastic surgery has taken the medical and entertainment by storm. You can’t turn on the TV or pick up a magazine any more without someone discussing their latest medical procedure or endorsing their favorite plastic surgeon. Lately, I have heard a lot about a Houston plastic surgeon that has taken these medical procedures to a new level.

Years ago these type of procedures where not all that safe and there were entirely to many risks involved to the average consumer to take a chance on plastic surgery. This is not so these days. With the amount of qualified and experienced plastic surgery surgeons that are around now, these procedures have become a whole lot safer so they are a lot more attractive to the average consumer. By reading up on these types of procedures, I have discovered that it is quite common for people to engage in more than one procedure to make it look like they are growing old gracefully.

How about you? Have you ever contemplated this type of procedure?

Stepping away from the computer

Published by Kim under family, entertainment

Even though I am now working from home,  in about three weeks I plan to step away from my computer for an entire week.  I throughly expect to be going through Internet withdrawl.  LOL  But, my husband is taking his last weeks vacation from work during the week of August 20 and we have plans to take the kids to a different province to go camping.  So, although I’m not working outside of the home so I don’t actually get a planned vacation as opposed to most folks, I have decided to take one.  After all, I’m my own boss so I can tell myself when it’s time to go on vacation.

For all you work from home guys and gals do you ever do this?

I fired the maid!

Published by Kim under home, life

No, not really.  LOL  The maid just happens to be me.  If your anything like I am then you start to get very frustrated and discourage when you have to do the same housework day in and day out.   And you have to continuously pick up after EVERYBODY in the house.  Sometimes I wonder if the kids and my husband think that I’m the only one who lives here.  I’m certainly not the only one who makes the mess here, but I am the only one who ever seems to be the cleaning up all the messes.  So, I’ve decided that one of these days (probably not today, I can’t stand the mess) I’m going to fire the maid or maybe just go on strike for a little while  just so the family can see exactly what I do in the run of a day and then hopefully they will appreciate their maid just a little bit more.

You guys ever feel like this?  Have you ever gone on strike or fired the maid?
